Windows and Rooms

This is our temporary home.

It's not where we belong.
Windows and rooms that we're passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going.
I'm not afraid because I know this is our temporary home.
 

Lydia had a great time at the MUSC neonatal nurseries reunion.  It was an emotional time for many of the parents there, including me and Gary.  It was so relieving, therapeutic and joyful to see so many NICU graduates thriving and doing well.  We feel like the NICU experience was such a dream.  I dropped off a couple of prizes for the raffle and had to drop them off at the NICU.  Once I got on the NICU level, I felt so anxious; the feeling was somewhat unexpected and threw me off balance.  To think of how much that floor became a part of our lives, and how glad I am that we were able to leave it with our baby in our arms.  I am all too aware that some people don't always have a baby to hold at the end of the rollercoaster, and that makes having Lydia all the more special.

 

We got to see Logan who was one of Lydia's NICU buddies.  We also got to see Asher, another of Lydia's NICU buddies.  We always wondered what happened to these babies, so it was so awe-inspiring to see how well they're doing.  It was a day of celebration that Gary and I will cherish for a long time to come.

Lydia enjoyed the animals, went on a pony ride and played on the bouncy castle.  She is just old enough to get excited by these things!  She's a fun-loving thing; quite independent and adventurous.

 

Most of these over-stimulating days end like this.  A pooped out little girl in her Daddy's arms.  Is there a better place to be?

Here's the cheeky monkey with Mummy's sunglasses.  These days, everything is a toy for Lydia.  It's exciting to see her explore and play with things to figure out what they are, or what they do.  Gary and I hope to help Lydia find a sense of stability, confidence and compassion.  I think it's what we strive for in ourselves, too.
